Best. Tea. Ever.

Nothing makes me feel as good as rooibos tea does, not coffee, not ginger tea, not oregano tea, not mint or chamomile or lavender or green tea. It does not contain caffeine, and it's low in tannins. It has more anti-oxidants than green tea, and contains flavonoids, and possesses anti-inflammatory, anti-histamine, and anti-spasmodic properties. It's safe - and recommended - for pregnant and nursing mothers, and is also recommended for babies with colic, allergies, infections, and general malaise.

My rule of thumb: if it's good for babies, it's good for adults. Kinda like arrowroot and mashed nanners and tatters.

If I had to use one word to describe rooibos tea it would be: soothing.

It's also delicious. It has the same malty taste as black tea and coffee, so it satisfies the buds. I made some chicken vegetable soup a couple of days ago and it was a bit salty and I didn't feel like getting up to go to the kitchen to add some broth or water to it so I poured some rooibos tea from the pot on my desk into my bowl of chicken vegetable soup and it was perfect. I'll definitely be using it as stock soup base. If I mix shiitake mushroom powder with rooibos tea I'm pretty sure it will be a tasty alternative to meat stock, which I try to avoid these days cuz I have serious moral and ethical issues with eating meat. Not that eating meat is morally wrong, but eating meat every day.. subsisting on meat.. doesn't feel right to me. It should be an occasional meal. Once a month or so. That's acceptable, in my opinion. But every day? Just isn't right.

Aaaanyway. Digression is a bad habit of mine, my apologies. :)

Ladies and gents, rooibos tea:
