I see Boston coming back big time, like Baltimore. the entire east coast. just need to clean it up. the only thing that really deters people from living or visiting the east coast is that it's so polluted. can't swim in the ocean in NYC but you can in San Francisco. yeah it's cold in the north east, but that never stopped me from swimming in the ocean here. never felt so invigorated in my life as i do when i take a nice long soak in tinglingly cold east coast ocean. come out of that into the blistering hot sun and bake yourself til you're warm again, then go on a hike and collect snails and mussels and berries and leaves until evening, then build yourself a small campfire as the sun goes down over the lip of the world and throw all your snails and mussels in a pot, and cook em til they're done, then scoop em out and pour them on the dandelion and sheeps sorrel and camomile and raspberry leaves and roll em up and eat em just like that, still warm, and a few handfulls of raspberries and wild strawberries and hazelnuts and walnuts collected along the way, with a couple bottles of ocean-cold homemade apple cider, and a couple of good friends and a guitar and some smoke and the full moon overhead and the lapping coast.... and that, my friends, is the wild north-east coast. just an hour out of Boston. just a couple hours from Montreal and Halifax and New York... yup yup. 
2.22. what is the possibility of introducing red foxes to Mount Royal and other large public parks and green spaces? what type of grouping and packing pattern do red foxes have? would they stay on Mount Royal if we introduced a small skulk of red foxes to control our urban squirrel and pigeon population without disrupting their natural urban ecosystem or murdering them without just cause?
2.23. neighbourhood cats may kill songbirds, but they also compete with squirrels for territory and scare off and eat pigeons, so they are very appropriate animals for urban environments because they act as pest control. cats also kill and eat mice and rats. they're also strong enough to cohabitate with the urban raccoon population. we should be feeding and sheltering - and should stop neutering - our urban cat population. i really cannot think of any negative consequences of providing a safe urban habitat for feral - and domesticated - cats. they create no health or security issues that i can think of offhand, except fleas, which they wouldn't have if they lived in healthy packs because they would groom each other. cats are an excellent alternative - or addition - to red foxes as urban pest control.

Canada takes in refugees and immigrants who need a chance to make something of themselves in this world, we educate them, feed them, shelter them, teach them peace and fellowship, and when they're ready to leave the nest they fly away to another part of the world, and with all good luck spread their knowledge and wealth and peace with others there.
India and Mexico and South America and the Middle East and much of eastern Europe and China and other Asian countries are directly benefiting from Canada's leave-the-next-once-we've-taken-care-of-you diaspora phenomenon. and while we may lose a little bit of money funding new immigrants who then leave Canada afterwards, i don't mind paying for that, i don't mind contributing to that. and the ones who choose to stay in Canada, well, they stay not because they want to make money, because you can make more money elsewhere, they stay because they want their kids to be good loving sharing people too.

When I first moved in, and sometimes I still do, when I want the kids to shut up I yell out the window to shut up, and they usually do. But when I yell out the window at the garbage trucks to stop driving down the back alley rattling like demon-machine from hell at 4:30 in the morning, you know what the trucks do? Fuck all. They never listen. Dumb machines and their inability to communicate. They just keep on rolling past my window every fucking morning, rattling my brain and rousing me half out of bed.. it's one of the few things that still makes me scream.Ever screamed at an inanimate object?

Doctors should not make more than 100k per year at top position at public institute. if they want to make more they should be allowed to open private clinics, like in British Columbia, to "compensate" for the "low" public salary of 100k. doctors are highest paid public servants. this is not justified since these doctors are not performing their duties. we are paying doctors to NOT do their job properly.
universities and colleges and medical boards need to open admissions and licensing, strangling the number of new medical students and doctors allowed to be licensed every year creates an unnatural monopoly that protects doctors at the expense of those they are mandated to heal. this monopoly allows the Medical Mafia, which is essentially what it is, to control how much doctors can charge per hour. if there were more doctors in Canada there would be more competition for jobs, which would lower doctor's salaries, and enable hospitals to hire the best quality doctors at the fairest market wage.
the only impediment to our healthcare system is the stranglehold doctors and vendors have on it.
